March 2026
Dear Emmaus Clinic supporters,
You may remember the young man, Toussaint, who recently broke his leg. Thankfully, because of your help, he was able to get the surgery that he needed.
Nurse Louna and dental assistant Derlande praying for Toussaint.
Tragically, one of our maternity patients was unable to find a hospital for her delivery. She died after giving birth at home, leaving the baby and her three other children.
Until now our clinic has been open only during the day, and we must turn away patients who need hospitalization. In order to be better able to serve our community, we are going to remain open 24-7. This will provide a safe place for labor and delivery, and allow us to keep patients who are too sick to be sent home. We recently bought three hospital beds, and we have hired additional staff to cover the night shift.
Bonamyβs parents were killed last year by the gangs that control much of this part of Haiti.
She needs thyroid surgery, and our nurse Louna has located a specialist who can perform the procedure for $2,000. With your support, we are determined to make this happen for her.
We still have a container of donated equipment in Canada that needs to be shipped to Haiti so we can set up a surgery at the clinic. This is especially important since we are starting maternity care and may need to perform emergency C-sections. The cost to ship the container is approximately $30,000.
On a more cheerful note, two of our administrative staff, Shlenley and Jemima, got married last February 14!
Thank you for your prayers and support for Emmaus Clinic!
Sincerely,
